The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the "sh" sound in words like "ship" or "fish." (If your child needs a refresher on this sound, start here.)
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Hershey Bars
Have you ever had a Hershey's chocolate bar?
Milton Hershey was the man who started it all. He was born on this day in the year 1857.
Milton Hershey did not have much education. He left school when he was about fourteen years old.
After a lot of practice, he came up with a new way to make caramel. Then, he started making chocolate.
After selling a lot of Hershey bars and Hershey Kisses, Milton Hershey became very rich.
The town of Hershey now has a big chocolate factory, a nice hotel, and a theme park. I would love to go there on vacation!

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
Who was Milton Hershey? What did you learn about him?
How old was Milton Hershey when he left school?
