The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on other “-tion” words. Unlike yesterday, these words have a vowel right before the “-tion” sound. Tell your child that when that happens, the vowel says its own name.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Emotions
I have big feelings and emotions.
I love my brother, but he can make me so angry. I feel almost blind with anger. But I need to be kind to him, and I remind myself that he is only five.
I love school. But on the first day this year, I was afraid to get on the bus. It was the end of summer vacation. I felt sad and also afraid. But I had to be brave and strong.
If I sigh and count to ten, I can control my emotions better. And it's nice to be in control.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What is today's story about?
How many different emotions can you name? When have you felt them?
