The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on words that end in “-ice” but don't follow the normal Magic E rule. Unfortunately there's no good rule for your kids to learn here, but just tell them that sometimes English is weird and that it evolved over time from many other different languages.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?
cactus practice plant ------------------------------- Say It Have your child point to and say the word "office" three times (it should sound like "off-iss"): office

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud:
On Notice
My brother was being kind of annoying again.
He ran into my mom's office while she was having a meeting.
He sang when my sister was trying to practice her trumpet.
He left the mint chip ice cream out on the counter. I love that ice cream, but now it's all melted.
So we put him on notice. He had to respect our stuff. And to give him true justice, he had to wash the dishes after dinner.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What is this story about?
What was the brother's punishment?
