What's With the Attitude?

“Dude, what's with the attitude? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed,” my sister asks.

“Well, since you must know, I'm in a bad mood,” I reply. “It's Monday, and I have a test. We are out of milk, and my toast is cold.”

“Wow, that is a lot,” my sister concludes. “But we have more milk in the back of the fridge. I can warm up your toast. And I know you will do well on your test. Feel better now?”

The truth was, I did. I thanked my sister for cheering me up.

Explain It

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. Why is the author in a bad mood?

  2. In your own words, how does the story end?
