Today we’re going to work on the “-tch” sound in words like “itch” or “match."

Pass the Pitcher

“Will you pass the pitcher?” I ask my sister.

“Which one?” she asks.

“The glass one. The one full of water,” I say.

“Shall I risk it?” she asks.

“Yes, you can trust me,” I say.

“But will you catch it?” she asks in jest.

“No, no! Do not pitch it to me,” I say. “Just pass me the pitcher.”

“Ok. Think fast!” she pretends.

“Watch it!” I say, as I grab it with my hand.

At last, I get to drink water. Then I send my sister a wink. ------------------------------- Explain It

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. What was in the pitcher?

  2. Why did the main character want the pitcher?
