Go Get the Tent

Mom sent me to go get the tent.

I went to get it from the shed.

It’s on the top shelf.

I pull it down, and it hits the deck.

Dang! Now it has a dent.

So I lift, and I pant, but I can’t bring it up.

I ask Ann to lend a hand.

But as we drag it along the grass, the tent gets stuck on a stick.

It splits.

I yell for mom.

She can’t help but grin.

“We can’t mend this old tent, and we can’t sell it.”

“If we go camping, we will just have to rent a tent.” ------------------------------- Explain It Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. What happened in the story?

  2. Can the tent be used again? Why or why not?
