Now on to the lesson…

Rhyme It Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It

Have your child read the passage below.

Rate It!

Jake likes to rate everything. He turns it into a game.

He gives a bad score to stuff he hates.

He gives a good score to stuff that he likes a lot.

For example, Jake rates cakes as five out of five. The ones frosted in chocolate are the best.

Asparagus is a one, he thinks.

When he makes a sand castle, he rates that as well.

Jake can rate almost anything.

His brother, Austin, would give this game four stars. How would you rate it?

-------------------------------

Explain It

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. How does Jake rate the asparagus? How about cake?

  2. How would you rate today's story, from 1-5?
