Today we’re going to work on the “ch” sounds like in the words “chip” or “much."

Chet the Chipmunk

Chet is a chipmunk.

In the fall, Chet hunts for nuts and seeds.

He needs a lot to last him all winter.

But he can’t find much.

Chet chats with the skunk.

The skunk tells him to look under the tree.

“Which tree?” Chet asks.

“The big one,” says the skunk.

Under the tree, Chet sees a big bunch of nuts.

Now Chet feels rich.

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. At the beginning of the story, what is Chet hunting for? Why?
