The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here.
Today we're going to work on words like "wave" and the name "Dave." If your child needs a refresher on Magic E words, start here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Dave Walks to School
On his way to school yesterday, Dave saw a snake crouching on the path. Seeing the snake gave Dave a fright.
Dave's pal Jane came to help. She told him not to be afraid.
“I have not seen a snake here before,” Dave said to Jane.
“It's okay. We can just walk around,” she said. “If we give him plenty of space, the snake will not jump out at us.”
Dave was glad to be on the way again. He and Jane made it to school on time.
P.S. If your child needs a refresher on the word “have,” go here.

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What was the problem in the story?
What happened at the end of the story?
