Have your child read the passage below.
The Kitchen Table
The kitchen table is in the middle of our house.
It is where I do my homework. It is where the family eats its meals.
The table is sturdy, strong, and stable.
Most nights, I sit on one side, and my little brother sits on the other.
Our table also came with an option to add an extra section. So when my aunts and uncles come to visit, the table is able to seat 8 people ("pee-pull").
It is an incredible table!

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What does the author use their kitchen table for?
Do you have a kitchen table? If so, can you describe it? What shape is it? How many legs does it have?
