The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to word on words like “question” and “election” that end in “-tion.”
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Election Day
Here in America, we vote for president every four years. 2024 is an election year, and today is election day.
Maybe you have seen ads on TV or listened to your mom and dad talking about it.
Everyone over the age of 18 has the option to vote in the election.
First they have to register to vote.
Next, they have to show up on election day. (Or before then--some people vote early, before election day.)
Last, they have to make a selection.
Then the votes are added up, and the person (the candidate) with more votes wins.
In the USA, we live in the land of the free. Our votes count!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
How often do we vote for President in the USA?
In the USA, how old do you have to be to vote?
