Daily(ish) Decodable: Words like "left" and "soft"

This is the Daily(ish) Decodable program, which uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions to you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.

If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here

Today we're going to review words like “left” and “soft.” If your child needs more practice with the “-ft” blend, start here

Have your child read the passage below out loud:

The Soft Sock

Ling was a thrifty duck. She had a knack for finding things in the marsh.

One day, she spotted a soft sock stuck in the mud.

“This is like a gift,” Ling said to herself.

Ling flew down to the spot. But the sock was stuck.

Ling would not give up. She got the sock in her grip and lifted hard. “One, two, three, go!” she chanted.

Ling got the sock unstuck.

“Oh, no!” she said. “This sock is all wet.” But then, the sun came out. Ling left the sock to dry in the sun.

After a while, the sock was not wet! She had a new, soft sock.
