We've already worked on the hard “-ive” sound in “five.” Today we're going to work on words like “give” that look the same but sound different.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?
creek river liver ------------------------------- Say It Have your child point to and blend the word "river" three times: riv er

Read It
Have your child read the passage below.
Live and Let Live
I think “live and let live” is a good saying.
To me, it means that I can live my life how I want. And, as long as we don't mess with each other, you can eat different food, read different books, be festive in your own way, stay up later, or go to a different church. Those things don't affect me.
Another way to say this is to treat others as you would like to be treated.
We don't have to agree on everything, but I think “live and let live” is a positive message.

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What is today's story about?
Do you agree with the story? Why or why not?
