The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on the word "love." It looks like a Magic E word that we worked on yesterday, but it doesn't follow the same rule.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Have your child read the passage below out loud. (Note: We haven't covered the word “because,” but help them sound it out as much as they can.)
A Trip to the Cove
Tom and his father drove to a cove to play in the sand.
Tom got out of the car. The sun was big and bright. The waves made a soft sound.
Tom had a red pail and a green rake. He wanted to make a fort in the sand. He dug and dug. The sand made a big pile. Tom used his hands to make the fort bigger. It had tall walls and a deep moat around the outside.
“This is my best one yet!” said Tom.
Tom was happy. And at the end of the day, Tom and his dad drove away from the cove.

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
Did you learn anything about bananas today?
How high can banana plants grow?
