The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're reviewing the "-ing" suffix in words like "keeping" or "starting."
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

The Shopping Cart
On this day in 1937, the shopping cart was born.
The owner of the “Humpty Dumpty” supermarket chain knew he had a problem. His customers needed a way to carry more stuff while they were shopping.
So the owner of the store found a wooden folding chair and put a basket on the seat and a wheel on each of the legs.
It didn't work that well at first, but did he stop? No! The man started tinkering to make the “cart” bigger and stronger. After working on it for several years, he got it to work better. And today, there are shopping carts all over the world.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What problem did the shopping cart solve?
How was the first shopping cart made?
