I Saw a Flaw

My brother Wade leans over and pokes me in the side.

He speaks softly and whispers, “I have a plan to get extra candy. Just follow my lead.”

“Sorry,” I reply, “but that plan will never work.”

“Why not?” he asks.

I point to three flaws:

Flaw 1: Mommy and Daddy never let us eat extra candy, even if we are good.

Flaw 2: Wade and I have not been good today. We didn't make the beds or help clean up after lunch.

Flaw 3: There is no more candy. We ate the last of it yesterday!

-------------------------------

Explain It

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. What does Wade want?

  2. What are the 3 reasons the author doesn't think Wade's plan will work?
