The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “ir” sound in words like “girl” and “bird.” If your child needs a refresher on this sound, try starting here.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
First Love Day
Today is First Love Day, a day to reflect on that first spark of love that enters our lives.
What gives you that “first love” feeling? That emotion? What makes you smile and grin?
Your first love might be a person, such as another boy or girl.
A first love might be about a place, a mountain or the pool or the sea.
Or a first love might be a thing, like a toy, a bike, a bike, or a sport.
Whatever it is, your first love is something you will always cherish.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
Without looking back, can you spell the word "first?"
