The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here.
Today we're going to review the “ui” vowel combination in words like “suit” and “fruit.”
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Melon Day
Today is Friday, August 9th.
It is also Melon Day.
There are many different melons.
A honeydew melon is pale green in color and is sort of soft.
A watermelon is green with stripes, but the inside the fruit is a deep dark shade of red. It is crispy and juicy.
Most watermelons have seeds. It can be fun to eat watermelon outside, count the seeds, and then see how far you can spit them.
Or you can make a fruit salad with melon, other fruits, and mint.
Have you ever had melon? It is a sweet fruit to try.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
Without looking back, can you spell the word "watermelon?"
