The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review "ai" words like "nail." If your child needs a refresher, start here.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Nail
Without a nail the horse's hoof was not fit to run…
Without his hoof the horse would not trot or gallop…
Without his horse the rider could not fight or give chase…
Without the fighter the battle was lost…
When the battle was lost so was the kingdom…
All for the want of one silly nail.

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What is today's story about? What was the moral of the story?
Without looking back, can you spell the word "snail?"
