The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to practice combining different endings on the base word “juice.” As a reminder, we worked on the “ui” vowel team earlier this month.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?
loose juice tight ------------------------------- Say It Have your child point to and say the word "juice" three times (tell them it rhymes with "loose" or "moose"): juice
juice

------------------------------- Blend It Have your child read these words out loud:
juices
juicer
juiced
juicy fruit
Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Lemon Juice Day
Today is Lemon Juice Day.
A lemon is a yellow fruit that is very tart. You may not want to drink it on its own, but I find that you can do a lot with lemon juice.
One thing you can do with lemon juice is make lemonade! I have a very good and fast way to make lemonade:
First, get two cups of lemon juice. Dump them into a big pitcher.
Then add two cups of sugar.
Next, add lots of water—about one gallon.
Stir it up, and you will have fresh lemonade. I bet you will love it!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
The story contains a recipe for how to make lemonade. Do you remember all the steps?
