Daily(ish) Decodable: Bee Day

The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.

Today we're going to review the "ee" sound in "bee."

You can review all of the prior lessons here

Bee Day

Today is World Bee Day. Here are five bee facts:

Fact One: There are many kinds of bees. You might know the western honey bee. That's the one that makes honey.

Fact Two: Bees feed on nectar and pollen from plants. By carrying pollen from one plant to another, they help plants make new seeds, which then become new plants.

Fact Three: Farms and plants depend on animals like bees.

Fact Four: A bee sting can hurt. But did you know that only a female (girl) bee can sting?

Fact Five: A queen bee is often the mother of most, if not all, of the bees in a beehive.

-------------------------------

Explain It

Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:

  1. Can you remember three bee facts?

  2. Do you think bees like cold weather? Why or why not?
