The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're reviewing "-ur" words like "turn" and "hamburger."
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

McDonald's
Today is Thursday, May fifteenth.
The first McDonald's opened on this day in the year 1940.
It was started by two brothers, Dick and Mac McDonald.
At the time, it went by the name McDonald's Bar-B-Que.
They had a "Speedee System," to make food fast and consistent. They had a small, limited menu with hamburgers, shakes, and French fries. And they kept prices low. Hamburgers cost fifteen cents.
Today, a McDonald's “Big Mac” hamburger with fries and a drink might cost you thirteen dollars.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What did you learn from the story today?
Back when McDonald's first opened, how much did a hamburger cost?
