The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “-ish” suffix, as in “somewhat like.” (If your child needs more practice with this sound, you could start here or here.)
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
The Frog with a Wish
Pete was a smallish frog in a greenish pond. Near the shore the reeds were tallish and the water smelled a bit brackish.
Pete had a wish. He wanted to see the wide, salty sea. Each day he felt a tad foolish as he stayed near his pond.
Pete was shy, but one day he met a turtle with a yellowish shell. When he told the turtle his wish, the turtle said, “Don't be foolish. Come with me!”
At last Pete got to see the salty sea. It was vast and wide. Pete felt calmer, less foolish, and wiser. He was thankful for the trip, and he loved to hear the tide.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What was Pete's wish?
Who helped Pete?
