The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “-er” suffix, as in “a person who” or “a thing that.”
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Delivery Driver
Today is Pizza Delivery Driver Day.
A driver is one who drives.
A baker is one who bakes.
A helper is one who helps.
Some -er words mean “that which.”
An opener is a thing than can open other things.
A holder is a thing which holds.
A timer is a thing that tells time.
At the shop, the baker makes the pizza.
The cutter cuts each slice.
The packer puts the pizza in a box.
Then the driver picks up the order.
They transport the box with care.
The driver brings the pizza to your door.
The customer smiles and says, “Thank you!”
Each person or thing has a job to do.
With each small step, the job gets done.

Explain It

What is the word for someone who teaches?
What is the word for someone who paints?
