Welcome back to Read Not Guess. Today we’re going to work on the double “ee” sound like in the words “bee” or “see.”
Both parent and child will need to be able to see the screen.
Let’s get started.
Today’s Letter Sounds
Have your child point to the letters as if they’re making a big smile for a picture:
ee
ee
ee
Word Practice
Now we’re going to work on blending the “ee” sound in words. Your child can start slowly by saying each sound individually, but each time, they should try to say it just a bit faster.
Ask your child to say the correct sounds as they point to the letters:
b ee
bee
And:
s ee
see
And:
f ee t
feet
And:
n ee d
need
Now finish with some slightly harder ones:
qu ee n
queen
And:
sh ee p
sheep
And:
th r ee
three
Silly Story
See if your child can read this short story:
Jeez, Mom, I don’t feel well. Can I quit sweeping?
Okay, Chet, you can stop. But I think you had too many sweets. Finish sweeping, and then you can go to sleep.
If they read it smoothly, great! If they stumble, have them keep working until they get it right.
That’s it for today. We’ll see you next time.
